From Mark:

I have been a Revolutionary War reenactor for nearly 30 years. During the reenactment of the battle, about four years ago, there was a lull in the action. My artillery crew and myself were standing off to one side by a marsh. We noticed movement in the marsh and figured some of our fellows were coming in.

Out of this marsh walked a young boy, about 16 to 18 years old. His uniform was worn and dirty and he stunk like rotten vegetation. He asked about his unit but was hard to understand as he was speaking in true 18th Century English. He also seemed to have a speech problem.

We directed him to the area where the unit was and, as he walked away, he vanished. We just stood there looking at each other and asking,"You saw that, too, right?"

To this day we have no idea who he may have been other than another causality in the American War for Independence.
